It was a very exciting indoor conference meet this past Thursday at North Central. We know we have a lot to work on when we switch to the outdoor part of our season, but there were celebrations all around.
Just some of the many highlights...
Records were broken!
MiKenna Robinson finished a close 2nd to the runner from Naperville North in one of the most thrilling 800m races. Only .02 separated 1st and 2nd places! On her way to running 2:14.91, MiKenna crushed her previous indoor 800m run record of 2:20.18!
The record breaking night was not finished. Corinna Pena, running in her senior indoor 1600m race, smashed her previous indoor record of 5:12.22 that she ran as a sophomore with an amazing race run in 5:00.73!
It's not often a freshmen comes in and finishes 2nd place in all three of the jumping events (high, long, and triple) on the varsity level at what is arguably one of the toughest conferences. Riley Ammenhauser did just that! An amazing night, as she jumped her season best in both the long and triple jumps!
It was also exciting to watch Tolu Akinbo in the JV high jump and Tiegan Munar in the JV pole vault not only finish above their seeds but in first place for their respective events!

Weather is changing...
Although it may not always seem like it is getting warmer, we are holding out hope Springlike weather will be here soon. Therefore, we are asking that all athletes come to practice ready to workout either outdoors or indoors. The best plan is to have layers available in your lockers each day. If we are practicing outside and we want to meet outdoors, instead of our normal practice meeting area, there will be a note by the locker room telling you where to meet.

Remember, we take away the 55m dash and 55m hurdles and add 100m dash, 4 X 100m Relay, discus, and 300m. Also, since we are competing outdoors, we suggest having a long sleeve white shirt and black running tights available to wear at the meets.
